Onboarding is an important process for getting new board members up to speed in the boardroom—and it’s equally important for getting new directors up to speed on their board committees. In Part 2 of this episode series, we focus on compensation committee rotation and onboarding from the perspective of the compensation chair. What are the biggest challenges to serving as a compensation committee chair today—and what onboarding approaches have been effective in practice?
In this episode, board member Laurie Siegel shares key takeaways from her years as a compensation committee chair.
"[Onboarding] is really about giving [new directors] access to the culture," said Siegel. "Giving them access to people in the company. Letting them build key relationships deeper in the organization, and [build] their confidence. We don’t just want these [new] directors to come onto boards to participate. We want them to shift corporate culture."
